Definition: An ETF that tracks the stock market index for a given country, region or exchange.
Also Known As: Market Index ETFs can sometimes be considered Foreign ETFs if they track the index of a foreign stock exchange.
Examples: EWJ is an ETF that tracks Japan’s Nikkei Index. SPDR is an ETF that tracks the United States DOW Index.
