USL - The US 12-Month Oil ETF

By Mark Kennedy, About.com

Definition:

USL, the United States 12 Month Oil ETF tracks the changes in the price of light, sweet crude oil. The actual changes in price are measured by changes in the average price of twelve oil futures contracts traded on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

The oil ETF consists of the front month contracts and those from the following eleven months. This gives the ETF a total of 12 straight month of contracts. Each of the month contracts are weighted equally.
