By , About.com Guide

Definition:

The DBA (PowerShares DB Agriculture) is a commodity ETF that tracks the price and yield performance of the Deutsche Bank Liquid Commodity Index, Optimum Yield Agriculture Excess Return. The index is composed of futures contracts on some of the most liquid and widely traded agricultural commodities like wheat, soy beans, corn and sugar. The index is intended to reflect the performance of the agricultural sector.

If you are looking to gain exposure to the agricultural sector or hedge some commodity risk, the DBA could be a possible fit for your investing strategy.
