Two New Low Volatility Small and Mid-Cap ETFs

PowerShares has launched two new style ETFs, one a mid-cap and one a small-cap. Both will be low volatility funds...

  • XMLV - PowerShares S&P MidCap Low Volatility Portfolio ETF
  • XSLV - PowerShares S&P Small Cap Low Volatility Portfolio ETF

XMLV tracks the S&P MidCap 400 Low Volatility Index and according to PowerShares the fund will consist of about 80 mid-cap securities from the S&P MidCap 400 Index with the lowest realized volatility over the past 12 months. XSLV tracks the S&P SmallCap 600 Low Volatility Index and according to PowerShares the fund will consist of about 120 small-cap securities from the S&P SmallCap 600 Index with the lowest realized volatility over the past 12 months.
